This reflection was inspired by a recent feature in Voyage Austin, where I shared the story behind Moti and the journey of building the brand.
Recently, I had the opportunity to share the story behind Moti with Voyage Austin.
As I answered their questions, I found myself reflecting on a journey that began nearly three years ago. What started as a small idea slowly became something much bigger than jewelry and what I had thought. It became a way to connect with people, share stories, and create pieces inspired by the places, cultures, and experiences that have shaped me.
When people see a finished collection or stop by a pop-up, they are often seeing only a small part of the story. Behind every piece are countless decisions, lessons learned through trial and error, moments of uncertainty, and many late nights wondering if I was moving in the right direction.
There have been wonderful moments along the way. There have also been difficult ones.
Like many small business owners, I have experienced self doubt more times than I can count. There were days where I questioned everything. Having a brand is probably the most vulnerable I have ever felt.
Yet every time I considered stepping back, someone's kind words reminded me why I started and why I have to keep going.
Sometimes it was a customer sharing how much they love a piece. Sometimes it was meeting someone at a pop-up who connected with a design because it reminded them of home. Sometimes it was simply a kind message from someone following along online.
Those moments matter more than people realize.
More than anything, the Voyage Austin conversation reminded me that Moti has never been built alone. It has been shaped by the people who chose to support it. The customers who stopped by a market table. The women who trusted a new brand. The friends who shared encouragement when I needed it most. The people who continue to follow the journey, whether online or in person.
To all of you, thank you.
You are a much bigger part of this story than you may realize.
